Adrian William Church, also writing as Adrian W. Church, was born in Birmingham, England, and lives in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

Before devoting more time to writing, Adrian built a substantial professional career involving Wills, Trusts, UK succession law and taxation. His career included work in banking, accountancy and law firms, alongside extensive involvement in professional education. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for his contribution to professional education.

Writing initially entered his life through verses created for colleagues, occasions and events. After returning to poetry in his sixties, he increasingly found inspiration in the people, places and experiences around him. Poetry became a means of expressing what he felt and making sense of life’s changing circumstances.

A lifelong and eclectic reader, Adrian enjoys both fiction and non-fiction. His interests extend well beyond literature. Since retiring from full-time work, he has travelled to cities across Europe and explored surrounding historic sites. He is a member of the National Trust and English Heritage and retains a strong interest in Britain’s inland waterways after many years of owning and regularly using a canal boat.

History has also been a longstanding passion. For around ten years, Adrian took part in English Civil War re-enactments as a Royalist pikeman with the Sealed Knot. Theatre, nature and wildlife remain important interests, and he is a bronze patron of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

His writing often begins simply, with a thought or observation arriving unexpectedly. From that initial idea, he develops the structure and language best suited to the subject.
